What size screws and magnets did you use? Also, I'm assuming that the magnets are just sticking to a plate of steel? Or is that a nonmagnetic metal like Aluminum?

Yes, they are suck to an aluminum bar. I think the screws were 3/4in. Honestly screws were a bad idea and took a lot of work flattening, you can probably find something better than screws.

Forum: FLUX SWITCHING
Topic: RE: xpenzif - Magnet Motor Prototype
Replies: 3
Author: gaby de wilde
Subject: xpenzif motor - ababandon screws
Post time: Tue, 16 Oct 2007 23:43:30 (GMT 0)

What type magnets and screws did you use on this one?

Yes you will have a much more efficient, streamlined motor very soon. I believe the device in this video used nd45 bar magnets, poles on the small ends.

Would be interesting to see how close those stators can be positioned together, the rotor rim can be rather huge.
Static magnet dynamo for generating electromotive force based on changing flux density of an open magnetic path

Quote:

Abstract
A static magnet dynamo including at least one permanent magnet having different poles; a first core comprising a soft magnetic material and which couples the different poles of the permanent magnet to form a closed magnetic path therein; a second core comprising a soft magnetic material which couples to the closed magnetic path via a paramagnetic material to form an open magnetic path; a magnetized coil wound around a portion of the first core where the closed magnetic path is formed; and an induction coil wound around a portion of the second core. A direction of a flux of the closed magnetic path is changed by applying an alternating voltage to the magnetized coil, generating an electromotive force in the induction coil by electromagnetic induction due changes in a flux of the open magnetic path induced by the change in direction of the flux of the closed magnetic path.

AC/DC or DC/AC Converter system with improved AC-line harmonic reduction
Abstract
In a transformer-rectifier converter system, at least one inductance is inserted in the commutation path of two adjacent diode or thyristor devices in a cluster of three devices related to a common DC polarity pole, the reactance due to such inductance being sufficient to lengthen the commutation overlap thereby to minimize AC line harmonics. The invention is applicable to AC/DC as well as to DC/AC conversion.

We use the Newman motor as Air-coil replacement. We add 2 rings of permanent magnets with 4 primary 'air' coils and one conventional secondary coil stuck on a core. 2 small pulses will then close the loops one after the other. Air is not a very good conductor but (against popular believes) the Newman motor is not air!
(adds link to a nice but un-related page)

This is important to understand since a lot of our designs use equilibrium.
